New Age Music

I am not familiar with New Age music, but I would like to buy some CD’s for my friend who is into such music, so does anyone have any good suggestions?

Well there is Enya, Yanni, Enigma, Kitaro and Vangelis. I think these are the most famous new age music artists.

Old School? As in what exactly? What is considered old school these days? The 80's, the 90's? Or way before that?

My definition of New Age music is instrumental music, no singing involved but I guess that’s not correct since Enya is considered new age, and she rocks :)

Musically speaking,

The "new age" genre was started because there were many artists in the late 80's and early 90's that were not compartmentalize - able, if i may.

So, people didn't know where to put Enya and Enigma and Yanni so they just made up the thing. Now it almost doesn't exist anymore, they all got shoved into pop/rock which I think was what they were supposed to in the beginning. It's such lobby music though.

Now, the new romantics...that's a genre. lol.
